The Season of Skin-Care Simplicity
Lately I have been leaning into a very simple skin-care routine. Over the past year I have been using just 6 products. Let me preface by saying I love skin-care, it is a hobby of mine if you will, trying new products, researching different brands and formulations. I love skin care, yes, but I also know that over doing it with 12 steps and constantly trying new things can be a lot for your skin to go through and for me at least, will result in irritated skin. Especially if you have sensitive/combination skin.
I truly think that good skin starts with taking care of your skin and I have spent most all of my 20’s and 30’s really caring for my skin and fine tuning my routine. Everyone skin care needs are going to differ, so what may work for someone else won’t give you the same beautiful results. Which is why I do like exploring and trying new things. When I do find a product that works cohesively with my skin, I am loyal to it.
I have narrowed down 6 products that I love so much. They are simple and effective. Yes, a bit more pricey than drugstore products, but worth it imo.
The Morning
Zo Skin Health Complexion Renewal Pads- I don’t cleanse my face in the morning. I splash cold water and then go in with these renewal pads. These will gently cleanse/exfoliate the skin with AHAs. I feel these are perfect to wipe away anything your skin accumulated throughout the night without over stripping your skin. My esthetician introduced these to me years ago and I have used them ever since. I am on the hunt for a less expensive version, but have yet to find one. I will share if I do though cause these are pricey. I use 1 pad each morning and there are 60 in the container so it lasts me 2 months.
Elta MD AM Moisturizer- Simple and effective. This moisturizer is lightweight, smooth, and non irritating. Perfect for sensitive skin. I love that these bottles (All Elta MD) are a pump dispenser that is sealed so you not only use all the product up, the product itself is never contaminated. Also, these bottles are all travel size friendly, which is a nice bonus.
Elta MD UV Clear SPF 46- I have tried many SPFs and this one is not only great protection, it blends so well and is great for very sensitive/reactive/acne prone skin.
*I also just started using the Vacation facial SPF 50 and really like it too. It is almost serum like and also doesn’t leave a white cast.
The Evening
DHC Cleansing Oil- I have an older post where I dive into the important of double cleansing. So check that out if you are interested. I double cleanse every night no matter what. Whether I have makeup on or not. Double cleansing is the best way to really remove your SPF from the day. Because I double cleanse I don’t feel the need to cleanse in the morning.
Is Clinical Cleansing Complex- I also have a post about my favorite cleansers and of course this one is mentioned. I have rotated between several great cleansers over the years, but this one is just a top favorite. I always come back to it. I was first introduced to it 9 years ago by my aesthetician and loved it ever since.
Is Clinical Cleansing Polish Complex (3x a week)- same concept as the cleanser but an exfoliator or polish. Since I use the exfoliating pads each morning, I don’t need to use this that often, but it is a nice way to physically exfoliate your skin. I also like to use this on my chest, neck and back.
Elta MD PM Moisturizer- very similar to the AM moisturizer, but the night formula.
I am sharing these products because as someone who loves skin care and has tried A LOT in my adult life, I think these are great simple staples for almost anyone to use. I have very sensitive skin, somewhat acne prone, aging (hi almost 37) and want products that keep my skin youthful, clear and even!
Majority of the products mentioned are medical grade skin-care brands and while Sephora and Ulta have great brands too, there is just something about medical grade skin-care. It performs different, it has testing and medical claims to back it up. All of these products are available on Amazon which is so convenient.
*Links are affiliated, meaning I get a small commission if you purchase anything. Which I appreciate if you do, but I truly love these products and have used some of them for years and I just like to share when I find well performing products. It’s that aesthetician in me ;)
